Description

My third attempt at the Dragons of Ara.   For this attempt, I decided to devote a night to each narrowband, collecting 6.5 hours of data in Ha and [OIII] before the clouds cutting my [SII] subs to 50mins. While waiting for the skies to clear, I decided to process the data just to see:

a) how much difference the extra Ha and [OIII] data made over my previous attempts and
b) just how important [SII] might be.

In my view, the answer to a) is "a lot" and b) "not much".

I wasn't really surprised that the [SII] data didn't add much "colour" (even allowing for it only being 50mins) but I am pleased that the additional [OIII] and Ha picked up quite a bit more detail in the nebula than my previous attempts.

For my AB friends to also judge, both versions are shown here, along with a starless Ha/[OIII] version. In all versions, I kept the colours relatively "muted" as I found saturation tends to take away from the wonderful detail of the rim in the "Rim nebula".

It was difficult to choose which should be labelled as the Final version, but I went for Version B, which has the most information.  But it may be my least favourite of the three.
